We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our school community. At St Helena School, our desire is to provide a great education and exciting opportunities for all our young people. Transitioning from primary to secondary school is a significant and exciting milestone. It is a time of new beginnings, a key moment in the lives of our young people and I hope you and your child find this information booklet helpful as you prepare for September. Our aim is to make sure every student feels safe, supported and inspired from the moment they join us. If there is anything that’s missing or that you are unsure about, please just ask.
At St. Helena, our approach is straightforward. We encourage our students each day to aspire, believe, and achieve in order to become successful learners. We also expect everyone in our school community to be safe, respectful, ready to learn, resilient, and kind. Your support in reinforcing these values is vital and greatly appreciated by all of us.
As your child begins this new chapter, one of the most important foundations is excellent attendance. Being at school every day allows our students to build the habits that will serve them well in school and throughout their lives.
One of those key habits is reading and as a reading school we will provide so many opportunities for your child to read. Alongside this, reading at home for twenty minutes a day with your support and encouragement can make a huge difference to your child’s experience in school. More than anything, please keep talking to your child about their learning in lessons and the extra-curricular activities they are going to get involved in.
Working together from now and throughout your child’s time at St Helena will help them to achieve their full potential and will help us to get to know you and your child really well.
We feel privileged to be a part of your child’s educational journey and are excited to get to know them.
Do get in touch when you have a question, a suggestion or just need a little support.
