Accelerated Reader Curriculum Intent Statement

Accelerated Reader aims to equip students with essential reading skills that will enable them to
understand and access all parts of the world around them now, and into adulthood. Students
will discover new vocabulary and develop independence when it comes to defining and
learning new and unfamiliar words.

We will strive to build students’ character so that they recognise the importance of reading
well, not just reading more.

Accelerated Reader will also seek to develop students’ imagination through reading as well as
broaden their critical and logical thinking skills and valuing texts as endless sources of thought
and information.
