Promoting Fundamental British Values: Statement of Intent
At St Helena School, our mission is to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of life in 21st-century Britain. We believe that excellence in education goes beyond the classroom; it is rooted in the character we build and the values we share.
We are a community that thrives on diversity, fueled by respect, and governed by fairness. Our intent is to ensure that every student leaves us not only with a set of qualifications but as a confident, compassionate, and informed citizen.
Our Commitment
We intentionally weave the four pillars of British Values into the fabric of school life:
-
We Lead Through Democracy: From our elected Student leadership to our open-door feedback culture, we ensure every student knows their voice has the power to create change.
-
We Thrive Under the Rule of Law: We foster an environment where rules are understood as the foundation of safety and freedom, teaching students the balance between rights and responsibilities.
-
We Celebrate Individual Liberty: We empower our students to make informed choices in a safe, supportive space—nurturing the independence required to navigate a complex world.
-
We Bridge Differences Through Mutual Respect: We don’t just "tolerate" different faiths, cultures, and lifestyles; we celebrate them. At St Helena school, prejudice has no place, and curiosity replaces judgment. We ask students to be kind and be respectful to each other and to Stand Up and Choose Respect.
-
"Our goal is simple: to graduate young adults who are as kind as they are capable, and as principled as they are prepared."
