Year 9 Achieve Great Success at the Haven Seaport Exercise

Yesterday (6 October), the school achieved great success at the Haven Seaport Exercise at Harwich International Port in which twelve Year 9 students attended.

Ten out of the twelve students won top prizes (see below)! Students spent the whole day participating in a disaster management role-play in which all students worked in groups with help from port officials, the emergency services, and captains of ships (who decided upon the winners).

They were the only Year 9 present out of approximately 140 students from various local schools who were all Year 10. There were three main categories of prizes - one for group presentations, one for question answering and problem solving, and then prizes for individual effort. The students who won and the categories in which they achieved success are as follows:
